Year 5 visited the Helena Thompson Museum to learn all about a ‘Victorian Christmas’. They had a fantastic day filled with craft activities, Christmas games and lots more! They learnt lots about what it would’ve been like for the Victorians at Christmas. This tied in with the text that we are studying in English which is ‘A Christmas Carol’. There was lots of fun and laughter throughout the day and all of the children were very polite and well behaved. Well Done Year 5!

This week, in community club, the children went litter picking around our School grounds. They chose this activity themselves as they believed it would help our School Community. They worked really well as a group and they managed to fill three bags of rubbish! Great work Community club!

Year 5 have been learning about Gods covenant between himself and Noah. The children decided to paint a rainbow to symbolise this covenant and they found a piece of scripture which they then wrote inside a cloud alongside the rainbow. Beautiful, reflective work Year 5.

Year 5 and Nursery shared reading

Year 5 and Nursery took part in a shared reading session this week. It was lovely to hear the enthusiastic reading from the Year 5 children, with super listening skills from the children in Nursery. We hope to do more shared reading in the future.

Community club had a fantastic visit to Eastcroft Grange care home this week. They enjoyed taking part in craft activities and singing with the residents. There were smiles all around and it was so lovely to see the joy that the visit brought to the residents. I received a lovely email from the care home staff saying 'Please tell the children that they are now friends of Eastcroft, I cannot tell you how this has impacted positively on the residents'. Well done Community club, I am very proud of you all for being so caring, considerate and kind.

We are so proud of Community Club! They raised a huge £75 to put towards buying arts and crafts materials to take to a local care home. They are so excited to get crafty with the residents, I'm sure there will be huge smiles all around!

Year 5 had a special visit from Christine who runs their class charity 'Baby Basics West Cumbria'. Christine told the children all about the amazing work that the charity does for families across West Cumbria. We can't wait to work with Christine in the near future to help support this amazing charity, watch this space!

Year 5 had a fantastic day dancing with Kalepsh! Everyone took part and enjoyed the session. They then went on to have a fantastic day with Jason from a play in a day! There performance of 'Midsummer Nights Dream' was fantastic!
