Chinese New Year!

Wow! We have had so much fun celebrating Chinese New Year this week. We have spent time creating our own lanterns, decorating dragon masks, dancing like we were in a parade and of course, trying lots of yummy Chinese foods (and trying to use chop sticks)!

Winter!

We have had so much fun this half term, observing the water freeze to create ice and using our warm hands and classroom to explore ice melting back into water. Some days we have come to school and noticed that it had been so cold over night that the water in the tuff trays had frozen and turned to ice. We have also enjoy creating lots of Winter landscapes using a variety of different materials, tools and shades of blue to craft our beautiful pictures.

4th January- Collective Worship

Today our Collective Worship session was all about ‘giving’. We spoke about the arrival of the three wise men and how they brought gifts when they visited Jesus. We then spoke about how we spent our time over Christmas, giving gifts, giving love and giving our time to family and friends.

W.C. 27th November- Doctors and Nurses

This week we have had lots of fun being doctors, nurses, hospital receptionists and patients in our role play area. We answered the phone, took notes, used a stethoscope, bandaged people up and gave out medicine.

W.C. 20th November

It has been another busy week in Nursery this week. We have continued to practice moving around the MUGA in P.E. and are beginning to develop our ball skills, rolling, throwing and catching.

In maths we were searching our classroom to find common shapes in our environment. We found circles, squares and even some triangles. We then used the faces on some 3D shapes to create some colourful shape pictures.

Wednesday 15th November

This afternoon Year 5 came down to Nursery to share some stories with us. We enjoyed their company and loved listening to them tell the stories.

WC 6th November- Dentists

This week Nursery received a wonderful gift that was delivered by the tooth fairy. We opened the gift to find that she had given us some toothbrushes and toothpaste to help keep our teeth sparkling. We used our new gifts to practice brushing our teeth and then discussed which foods are good for our teeth and which foods are not so good for our teeth.

In R.E. we were learning about Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem to have baby Jesus. In groups we re-enacted this.

We also spoke about Remembrance Day this week and what this means. We then created our own poppy pictures.

WC 30th October- Firefighter Visit

This week we were learning all about the fire service. We have been trying hard to remember the number to call in an emergency, we have practiced using the hosepipe to put out a ‘fire’ and we’ve even had a visit from the fire service! They sounded the fire engines sirens for us, then let us try on their helmets and climb onto their fire engine.

Nursery Rhymes

This half term in Nursery is all about Nursery Rhymes. We have been singing some of favourites such as Incy Wincy Spider, Old MacDonald, Twinkle Twinkle and Five Currant Buns. Our activities each week have been linked to the nursery rhyme of the week. We have decorated our own twinkly stars, used a range of materials to create farms animals for our classroom display board and enjoyed washing Incy Wincy down the water spout in our water tray.

We hope you enjoy following what we are getting up to in Nursery.
