Welcome to Year 3!

Year 3 is an exciting year as the children begin their journey through Key Stage 2 with Mrs Chenery- Carr and the wonderful support of Mrs Key. They supports the children as they settle into new routines and take on fresh challenges with confidence and enthusiasm. The class enjoys a wonderful variety of learning experiences, including their Castlerigg residential, an amazing Stone Age topic where they make a real outdoor fire and a fascinating rocks workshop where they create their own volcanoes! Every activity helps bring learning to life and inspires curiosity, teamwork, and a spirit of adventure.

In Science, they have started the year by exploring different kinds of rocks based on the appearance and physical properties of each rock. They have used chocolate bars to help them observe and identify similarities and differences in the properties of the materials. For example, a Wispa chocolate bar looks similar to the gas bubbles created in some rocks when they are formed.
