Welcome to Reception!

Our Reception class is led by Miss Wells, with excellent support from Miss Renkin and Miss Watson. The team creates a joyful and inspiring environment where children learn, laugh and grow together. The children love working through their exciting Reception Bucket List together, which has included memorable experiences like a mud fight at the Nature Reserve, making blackberry play dough in the forest and even painting each other's faces. Every day is an adventure, filled with curiosity, creativity, and plenty of smiles as the children continue to build confidence and a love of learning in their first full year at school. 

                                     

 

Reception had a wonderful afternoon exploring in the forest and making our very own blackberry play dough! We had lots of fun using our senses to explore the natural world around us and investigated what happens when different substances are mixed together. We loved watching our ingredients transform and getting stuck into some very messy, hands-on leaning! 

What a fun afternoon of investigation and discovery in the great outdoors! 

       

                                     

 

In our Handwriting lessons, we have been learning to create and draw different patterns, including circles, spirals, lines and crosses. We have made big body movements with scarves, used paint to create patterns on different surfaces and even spun CD's to make our own unique patterns. These learning opportunities have helped us to continue developing our gross and fine motor skills.

We have been busy baking lots of delicious treats with our friends at school! We have been developing our independence skills by carefully weighing, pouring and mixing the ingredients before getting our treats ready to bake in the oven. We have loved working together, following instructions and using new equipment to make our tasty creations come to life!

      

 

In Drawing Club this week, we have been sharing the text 'Not Now, Bernard' by David McKee. We loved engaging in story times together throughout the week and learnt lots of new vocabulary too, such as gobble, chomp, astonished and destroy. We drew our own terrific monsters, designed new homes for the characters and had a very enthusiastic volunteer who became our 'Super Storyteller'; retelling the story to the class!
