The Year 2 Children learning about Baptism with Father Philip

In RE children have been learning about 'Creation and Covenant.' We welcomed Mrs Wright back to school to work with each class on a Bible story. Mrs Wright was astounded by the children's knowledge and understanding. We were very proud of how reverent and respectable all of the children were.

    Growth Mindset

Children across school took part in the 5-day Active Travel Challenge. We were so impressed with the number of children (and staff) who made the extra effort to walk, scooter or cycle to school. We even had children who lived further afield asking their grownups to park further away from school so that they could walk the last bit of the journey! Well done to all those who took part, bring on the spring challenge!

Our Year 6 pupils attended a Careers Fair at Workington Academy, where they learned about a wide range of careers in Cumbria and how begin their own career journeys. It was wonderful to hear about the high aspirations our pupils hold for the future, and they were praised for their excellent communication and teamwork skills as they took part in various activities throughout the morning.

    Outdoor Learning

The Year 5 children have been getting creative in art ! Inspired by our English book Skellig, the children explored the nature garden and field to gather natural materials — leaves, twigs, petals, and more — to design their own natural portraits of the mysterious character. Such imagination and teamwork on display!

The Year 2 children have been learning about 'Where we live' in geography. We went on a local area walk and spotted lots of human and physical features. We didn't realise how many different houses were in our locality – we found bungalows, terraced houses, semi-detached, detached and flats. We will now use this experience to draw our own maps next week which will include a key.

This week, our nursery children have been discovering all the wonderful colours of autumn! We’ve been talking about the changes we can see outside and exploring the crunchy leaves on the ground.

To celebrate the season, the children have been getting creative with some autumn-inspired art. They’ve enjoyed experimenting with natural objects to make beautiful textures and patterns.

Our Reception children have loved getting wrapped up warm for another day of discovery in our local area — this time visiting Harrington Nature Reserve. 🍂

They all enjoyed observing seasonal changes and noticing the beautiful nature in the world around them. A big thank you to Raegan for joining us and sharing her fantastic knowledge!

What a wonderful morning our little adventurers have had!

    PE

What an energetic morning we’ve had with GB athlete Stuart Robinson! The children demonstrated resilience and determination when carrying out their circuits (they carried on even when they were getting tired) and were excellent at cheering one another on.

They also took great interest in listening to a Stuart Robinson as he explained his career in Wheelchair Rugby, his story and how he has demonstrated great resilience to get to where he is today! He inspired us all - hopefully one day, we can strive to win some gold medals too!
