Geography

At St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, we use Oddizzi, an award-winning geography resource, to support the teaching and learning of Geography across the school. Oddizzi provides a rich and engaging curriculum that develops pupils’ knowledge of places, people, environments and the wider world. Through carefully planned lessons, children explore local, national and global geography while developing key geographical skills such as map reading, fieldwork, data collection and geographical enquiry.

Our Geography curriculum encourages pupils to ask questions, think critically and make connections between physical and human features of the world. Learning is progressive, ensuring that knowledge and skills are built upon year after year, enabling children to develop a deeper understanding of diverse cultures, communities and environments.

Pupils benefit from Geography by developing curiosity about the world around them, gaining a greater understanding of different places and cultures, and learning how people and environments are interconnected. Geography also helps children become responsible global citizens who understand their role in caring for our planet and shaping its future.
