Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) Pathway

A Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) Pathway is a safeguarding process used by schools and other agencies to help identify, assess, and respond to concerns that a child may be at risk of sexual exploitation. Child sexual exploitation is a form of child abuse where a child or young person is manipulated, coerced, or deceived into sexual activity in exchange for something they need or want, such as attention, affection, gifts, money, or status. 

The pathway provides professionals with clear guidance on:

• Recognising the signs and indicators of exploitation.
• Recording and sharing concerns appropriately.
• Assessing the level of risk to a child.
• Making referrals to specialist safeguarding services when necessary.
• Working together with families, social care, health services, and the police to keep children safe. 

At St Mary's Catholic Primary School, safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. We are committed to protecting children from all forms of abuse and will work closely with other agencies whenever concerns are identified to ensure that every child receives the support and protection they need.
